Kublacon Painting Contest

Silver!

While I haven't even had a chance to unpack my stuff from the con, much less go through pictures of the games, I do have a few pics of my Krogloggs. Not only did they do very well in the big game hunting event, but also took silver in the journeyman's level at Kublacon painting contest. Woot!

The competition at KKC is fierce and amazing. About 70% or more of the entries are pieces that folks specifically focus on as a painting competition piece; everything I enter is for playing on the table, so any time I even place I am super humbled and proud.

If you'd like to see more pictures of the amazing entries this year, check out this FaceBook Link

Iportant Note!

I almost forgot- Thank you all for your comments of late- I have been trying to reply, but for some reason I cannot seem to reply to your messages or even to my own blogs. Still trying to figure this out- but it's me- not you- please don't stop with your awesome comments! And if any of you have had this issue and have a fix- I'd love to know about it.

Hopefully more posts on Kublacon and my games soon.

Cheers!

Galactic Heroes: Kroglogg Hunting Party

Kroglogg Rogue Trader Captain, and Entourage

Kublacon game convention is this weekend and my pal Mike is running a big, BIG GAME HUNT scenario using the awesome Glactic Heroes rules by Wiley Games.  I've built out a full set of the Astropolis Krogloggs from Lead Adventure miniatues for my "Rogue Trader" force.

The, erm, man himself.
I love the detail and character in this miniatures, and they are a joy to paint. Disclaimer- I actually started paintng these guys last summer, but got  loaded down with other more pressing projects- so it was really nice to have a "game goal" to get these guys done. Nothing like a deadline, eh?

Hunters with spotter
Kroglogg hunters with spotter- Known for their marksmanship and large caliber blasters.  Each hunter adorns his suit with red markings boasting of his trophies.

As a player, this is what I'll see most- so thought I'd include this picture

psiporgs, as deadly as they are cute!

Kroglogg trackers are known across the galaxy for being the best at handling the deadly psiporgs. We are not sure if the warpaint is to bond with the creatures or for survival.
the offspring, eldest son...

Boo!

Hunting is hunger making.

When I first started painting these guys, I was looking to African art and animals for inspiration, but  then on Friday movie night we watched Monsters Inc, and I knew what I had to do.

Cheers, thanks for taking a look. Do you have any Lead Adventure miniatures?

Kroglog Tracker and Ploogs

A Kroglog tracker scans the wastes for his prey

 Kroglogs: a brief history

Kroglogs are known across several quadrants as some of the best big game (and sometimes bounty) hunters.  One of the many keys to their success are their highly skilled trackers and their ploogs.
Cute but deadly! Ploogs can stun large prey with their psyonic blasts

Poisoned barbs protect them from being grabbed and eaten.

Ploogs are gruff little creatures, who's origin only the Kroglogs know- and they aren't telling. Possessing thermal infravison and being able to bark out a psyonic blast that could knock an elephant off of it's feet, they usually run in packs, flushing stunning large prey for the Kroglog hunters.  As cute as they are, to pet, ploogs have  neurotoxin poisoned spines on their backs and sometimes in the males, on their heads.

Trackers often use war paint to match and bond with their ploogs

A good tracker is never too far from his bag of ploogy snacks!
To be a tracker in Kroglog society is akin to being a rock star in the 70's both in fame and in possibly quick life span.  They wear their title by adorning their bodies with "war paint" markings similar to their ploogs. This is both for boasting, and presumably for bonding.

Trackers always carry a satchel with a homing and calling box and an ample supply of ploogy snacks, as one does not want to have hungry ploogs hollering in one's brain for food.

Gaming with Kroglogs

I love these Astropolis miniatures from Lead Adventure, and will be using them to play Galactic Heroes from Wiley Games.  I  may also try to sneak them into a GW game or two as my Kill team.
